When we purchased Vacuum Works in Ladner we had a long term vision in mind. The first step was to learn the ropes of running a retail and repair shop then move to a larger location. Since rebranding to Vacuum Works PLUS we have been gaining momentum in our community and beyond. Soon after moving to Tsawwassen Commons we added an Audio Visual and Janitorial sections to accompany our high end vacuum and central vacuum displays.

Flooring sends an immediate first impression. It is also a monetary investment, especially for businesses. We need to use the proper tools and cleaners to safeguard that investment. In the following article we will be talking about The Office or Commercial space, and what works best for maintaining a healthy living and workspace.

Offices and commercial spaces are not only a place for doing business but where employees spend up to 40 hours a week. They often play host to customers and prospective customers. Floors can tell a great deal about a company by the attention paid to their surroundings; from the first impressions in the lobby to the happiness of employees in the workspace. Clean and well maintained floors is just one example that reflects a company’s care and attention not only in creating a welcoming place to work but to welcome their customers into.

While most companies hire janitorial services, they can still signal the level and quality of floor care they expect. They can also stipulate what kind of cleaning supplies are used. Not all businesses hire those services and do their own cleaning in house.

At Vacuum Works Plus, there is a range of environmentally friendly products that can keep your floors clean, sanitized and smelling good.

Finally, the worst of COVID has passed and its time to open our doors and start inviting friends and family over to hang out, share meals and just enjoy life again. But after 2 years of semi-reclusive living and/or working from home, a good house cleaning may be in order before the invites go out.

Spring cleaning is an annual event. Remember when parents would tear apart the house every spring, the frenzied cleaning outdoor spaces?  They didn’t have the environmentally friendly products available today to make the job that much easier.

Like most of us the big question is: what to tackle first? We recommend making a list of what needs attention and make sure to be stocked up on those cleaning supplies. Here are some spots we don’t think about tackling too often or forget about!

Where to put the TV? A question we've all asked ourselves at some point in time but before we get into that let’s investigate the reality of TV Mounting.

Flat screen TVs are an investment ranging in all sizes and prices, from high-tech to low- tech and what seems like an endless list of manufacturers.  Nowadays, it's easy purchase that dreamed of HDTV. You know, the one that hubby can have friends over to watch the big game, or the one that makes those movies just that more realistic, or have the kids so absorbed in the latest Disney flick that they forget to be mischievous.

Vacuuming – the great chore! Yet, we all must do it. Whether our floors are carpeted, hardwood or some other material – dust just doesn’t care.

We’ve all had the experience of pulling a vacuum behind us – tripping over the cord, trying to get that unwieldly vacuum head under a bed or up against baseboards... you know the story.

Enter the world of the central vacuum – all you need to contend with is a hose that stores away when you’re done.  Central Vacs, as they’re commonly called, come in all sizes to accommodate today’s living.  They’re made for homes, apartments, condos, RVs and yes, even boats.  If your existing residence doesn’t currently have a central vac – it's easily retrofitted to accommodate one.  The benefits are well worth it.

It would feel natural to reach for the vacuum to help with the cleanup during the holidays, but we urge you not to on the following.

1. Pine Needles; Both artificial and real, pine needles should never be vacuumed up. Short pine needles get stuck in the hoses, bags, air passageways, and filters.

We are so excited to bring in a line of automotive care products in our janitorial section of the store. Let's talk about our line of automotive care products made by Concept Manufacturing right here in BC.  Another “supporting local” initiative from Vacuum Works Plus.

Which Vacuums are Best for Hardwood flooring?

There are many debates over whether to use a vacuum or a broom on hardwood, tile, or laminate floors. Vacuum Works Plus has the answer.

Where ever we live, be it a crowded city like Vancouver or Surrey, where the suburbs and the countryside go hand in hand as it does in Tsawwassen and Ladner we all suffer from indoor pollutants. Some more than others. You can have pets, suffer from allergies or have respiratory conditions agitated by the fine particles (particulates) that live indoors.

Fresh air indoors is not opening a window, while it feels great (okay it is incredible!), fine particulates stay trapped in the home. When outdoors, we feel refreshed because of the feeling that fresh air brings. Why can't we get that feeling indoors? Well, you can!

When you start the process of buying a new vacuum, there are many options, features, brands and accessories.

In 1999, Ladner's little vacuum shop opened. Previous owners Steve and Tammy Laughlin served this wonderful community for 19 years. They passed the torch to us, Karen and Paul, in November of 2018. We were welcomed by existing and new clients alike. Lovely community, Lovely people and a great place to own a family-run, pet-friendly business.

As is with any new purchase, investing more money initially or buying an inexpensive vacuum is a common dilemma for a lot of people. We understand everyone has a budget or buys in a hurry without really researching your options.  So we are here to break it down for you!

According to Harvard Health, Improving indoor air quality can help avoid asthma flare-ups, allergy symptoms and keep you breathing easily.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, keeping it clean, wash your hands, social distancing is a message we hearing over and over again. That's all great advice for when you are venturing out, but how do we keep the indoors feeling as fresh as the outdoors while living in self-isolation?

Have you invested time and money purchasing a brand new HDTV only to find yourself at a loss as to how to mount it to the wall? You shouldn't have to worry about that if you hire a professional to mount the TV to the wall for you.

Here are the benefits of hiring a TV installation professional.

1. Windowsills, where your cats go to reflect. One of the twelve places you may be forgetting to vacuum. Your windowsill! Use your crevice tool or rounded soft-bristled attachment to get rid of the nasties you can't imaging touching!

The Jones family is celebrating our first year as the new owners of Vacuum Works, now known as Vacuum Works Plus.
